Professional Christmas Lighting Supply

Professional Christmas lights are bought differently from every other kind. You are not buying for one building, you are buying for a season of installs you have already quoted, on a margin you set months ago, with a crew whose time is your largest cost. Creative Displays has supplied that buyer since 1959.

What installers tell us matters is not the product line. It is whether the order arrives complete, whether the spacing is what the job actually needs, and whether anything comes back down before January. Everything below is organized around those three things.

Specify the run instead of adapting to a package

The difference between a fast install and a slow one is usually whether the wire matches the building. We stock Weather-X® SPT-1 cord spools so you can order the run you need rather than cut down to a retail package:

All SPT-1, 18 gauge, with UV resistant jacketing. Sockets, twist-on Pro-Grade® bakelite sockets, and matching male and female patio plugs are stocked in the same four colors so the run disappears against the building rather than announcing itself.

The parts that decide whether you go back out in December

Callbacks are where installer margin dies. Three items in our catalog exist almost entirely to prevent them:

  • Moisture blocking socket washers for C7 and C9. Water entering the socket is the most common cause of a mid-season failure on a retrofit run. These cost a few cents per socket and remove the failure mode.
  • One-piece Pro-Grade LED bulb and socket construction. Nothing to work loose in the wind, no separate joint to seal, and no bulb a client can pull out and lose.
  • No Hassle clips in C7 and C9, plus clay tile clips. Faster on the ladder and far less likely to release in ice than a general purpose clip.

Add commercial-grade Dri-Box enclosures and WiFi outdoor smart plugs where the controls sit outside, and a run that is specified properly should not need a visit until takedown.

Commercial trees for client installs

Where a client wants a centerpiece rather than a wrapped natural tree, we build the full range: Sequoia, pop up, panel, tower, and RGB commercial trees, with tree bases, risers, and toppers sized to match. Toppers and bases are where we rank first nationally, which is usually a sign of what a category does well.

Pop up and panel trees are worth knowing about specifically if your crews are working tight schedules across multiple sites, they are built to go up and come down fast, which is a labor number rather than a product feature.

Animation and RGB, without a research projects

If a client wants a show rather than a static display, we stock animation controllers in 3, 4, 6, and 8 track configurations, alongside Twinkly Pro and Minleon RGB systems, RGB tunnels, decorations, controllers, and accessories. We will spec a control package against the display you are quoting rather than leaving you to work it out from datasheets. If you are pricing a job and need to know what a show costs before you commit to it, call us before you quote, not after.

What working with us actually gets you

We have supplied professional installers for decades, and the support is not an afterthought:

  • Design consultation on residential and commercial projects, so you can quote with confidence.
  • One-on-one support from people who specialize in lighting for a living, not a call center.
  • Startup guidance if you are building a holiday lighting business rather than running an established one.
  • Custom display design and manufacturing when a client wants something that does not exist in a catalog. You keep the client relationship.

Ordering and terms

There is no minimum order. Project and volume quantities are quoted rather than sold at catalog price, send your season’s requirements and we will price the whole thing.

Most in-stock orders ship within 24 to 48 hours, Monday through Friday, which is what makes in-season fill-in orders workable. Expedited orders generally ship within 24 hours on stocked items. Free shipping is available within the continental United States.

Custom and production orders require a deposit, and production is scheduled once the deposit is received. Build time runs roughly 6 to 10 weeks, and we take custom orders through October for the same season, later than most suppliers will. If a client comes to you in September wanting something bespoke, call us before you tell them no. Custom and made-to-order product is final sale, so we will make sure the specification is right before anything is built.

Financing is available through Trio Capital where a client project needs to spread across budget years. We shop nationwide from Lenexa, Kansas, and we are BBB accredited.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you sell to installers at project pricing?
Yes. There is no minimum order, and project or volume quantities are quoted rather than sold at catalog price. Send
your season’s requirements and we will price the whole thing.

What spacing should I order?
Socket wire with twelve inch centers are standard for C9 rooflines and streetscape work. Six inch centers give a denser line and are common on detail work and shorter runs. If you are matching an existing installation, send a photograph and we will
identify the spacing.

How fast can I get a fill-in order mid-season?
Most in-stock items ship within 24 to 48 hours, Monday through Friday, and expedited orders generally ship within 24
hours. Order early in the week where you can, there is no processing on weekends or holidays.

Can you help me price a job before I quote it?
Yes, and we would prefer to. Send the scope and we will build the bill of materials so your quote is based on real
numbers rather than an estimate. Design consultation is part of what we do, not an extra.

What causes most mid-season failures?
Water in the socket on retrofit runs, and wire fatigue on light gauge product. Moisture blocking socket washers address
the first. Eighteen gauge wire and one-piece bulb and socket construction address the second.

How far ahead do I need to order custom work for a client?
Build time is roughly 6 to 10 weeks once the order is confirmed, and we accept custom orders through October for the
same season, later than most suppliers. Call us before you quote and we will tell you honestly whether your client’s
date is achievable rather than leaving you to guess.

How long will the product last for my clients?
Pro-Grade® lights typically deliver six to eight years of commercial service against two to three seasons for retail grade.
Warranty coverage, where it applies, comes from the manufacturer and varies by product, and it covers the product,
not labor, lifts or reinstallation. Worth being clear about that with your own clients up front.

I am starting a holiday lighting business. Can you help?
Yes. We provide startup guidance alongside supply, which is unusual in this trade and something we have done for a
long time. Call and ask.
