When Commercial Grade Christmas lights are installed correctly, they have very little risk of malfunctioning during usage but of course, in order to have a successful result installing commercial Christmas lights like a Pro, you need to take into consideration other things. Keep reading to learn all there is to know about installing Christmas lights.

Tip 1: Choose The Right Empty Socket Light

Installing perimeter lighting can be tricky, but when done right, it’s a breeze. The first rule is to ensure you buy the correct cord, which is where most people go wrong. For professional installations, we recommend using commercial C7 or C9 bulk light line rather than pre-made stringer sets because the line can be cut to the exact length needed.

We recommend that professional installers use C7 or C9 bulk light line, purchased by the foot or in 500′ and 1000′ spools. C7 bulbs use C7-specific socket wire, while C9 bulbs use C9-specific socket wire. This type of cord allows you to measure and cut the exact length of wire you need. After cutting, attach a plug to the end of the wire, and it is ready to plug into an outlet.

Tip 2: Make Sure You Have The Right Bulbs

Once you’ve decided on the type of cord you need, you’ll want to select the right bulbs for the installation. C7 and C9 LED bulbs are a popular choice for commercial lighting. They may cost more than incandescent bulbs, but they are more energy efficient, last longer, and are built with a shatterproof coating. Incandescent bulbs can shatter and do not offer the same lifespan.

Tip 3: You’ll Need The Right Light Clips

For your perimeter light line, the project is only as good as the light clips used. When you choose to go too cheap on light clips, you can easily ruin all your hard work. As a professional installer, you’ll want to ensure you have a clean, straight perimeter light line. A few things to keep in mind when it comes to light clips:

  • It is essential to only use commercial grade light clips
  • For the cleanest, tightest light line, we generally recommend using one light clip per socket.
  • Use the right light clip for the type of structure you are attaching the empty socket light line to. Our C7 and C9 No Hassle Clips fit directly onto the sockets and stay in place when the bulb is screwed in. Because the clips remain on the line during takedown, they can make removal and storage easier.
